In November 2020, RMIT facilitated the MARC Future Visioning workshop. Set in 2025, the workshop was framed by human centred approaches to mobilise the MARC mind hive/ brain’s trust to create a vision statement that was both aspirational and pragmatic.
The group were invited to dwell in the experiences of four case studies, each focused on a different aspect of ageing, including culture, social relationships and contexts—from ageing in place to aged care facilities. Moving from the micro experiences of the people in the personas to also consider the macro systems that impact on ageing by considering what partnerships and capabilities might be needed. The groups considered the opportunities and challenges for what successful ageing well in 2025 might look like. Implications from the pandemic and Royal Commission were considered along with how MARC might counter issues such as ageism within the dominant Australian culture.
